From the Gospel according to Luke (Lk 13: 1-9)

At that time some came to tell Jesus about those Galileans, whose blood Pilate had made to flow together with that of their sacrifices. Taking the floor, Jesus said to them: «Do you think that those Galileans were more sinners than all the Galileans, for having suffered such a fate? No, I tell you, but if you are not converted, you will all perish in the same way. Or those eighteen people, upon whom the tower of Yealoe collapsed and killed them, do you think they were more guilty than all the inhabitants of Jerusalem? No, I tell you, but if you are not converted, you will all perish in the same way ».
He also said this parable: «Someone had planted a fig tree in his vineyard and came to look for fruit, but he found none. Then he said to the winemaker: “Well, I’ve been coming to look for fruit on this tree for three years, but I haven’t found any. So cut it off! Why does he have to exploit the ground? ”. But he replied: “Master, leave it again this year, until I hoe around it and put the fertilizer on it. We will see if it will bear fruit for the future; if not, you will cut it ”».
