Sunday January 30, 2022 – FOURTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
From the Gospel according to Luke (Lk 4: 21-30)
At that time, Jesus began to say in the synagogue: “Today this Scripture that you have heard has been fulfilled”.
They all bore witness to him and were amazed at the words of grace that came out of his mouth and said: “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” But he answered them: “You will certainly quote this proverb to me: ‘Doctor, heal yourself. What we have heard that happened in Capernaum, do it here too, in your country! ”». Then he added: «Truly I tell you: no prophet is welcome in his country of him. Indeed, I tell you the truth: there were many widows in Israel at the time of Elijah, when heaven was closed for three years and six months and there was a great famine throughout the country; but Elijah was not sent to any of them, except to a widow at Sarèpta di Sidone. There were many lepers in Israel at the time of the prophet Elisha; but none of them was purified, if not Naaman, the Syrian ».
Upon hearing these things, everyone in the synagogue was filled with indignation. They got up and drove him out of the city and led him to the brow of the mountain on which their city was built, to throw him down. But he, passing through the midst of them, set out on his way.
