Sunday 12 December 2021 – Third Sunday of the Season of Advent

From the Gospel according to Luke (3, 10 – 18)

At that time, the crowds questioned John, saying: “What should we do?”. He replied to them: “Whoever has two tunics, give some to those who have none, and whoever has food, do the same”.
Tax collectors also came to be baptized and asked him: “Teacher, what should we do?”. And he said to them, “Do not demand anything more than what has been fixed for you.”
Some soldiers also questioned him: “And we, what should we do?” He replied to them: «Do not mistreat or extort anything from anyone; be satisfied with your wages “.
Since the people were waiting and everyone, with regard to John, was wondering in their hearts if he was not the Christ, John answered everyone saying: «I baptize you with water; but he is the one who is stronger than me, whose sandal laces I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. He holds the shovel in his hand to clean his yard and to collect the wheat in his barn; but he will burn the straw with an unquenchable fire ».
With many other exhortations John evangelized the people.
