Monumental Area

This area comprises areas of the Cathedral dating primarily back to the Norman period (accessible with a ticket). These include:

Magdalene’s Well
The Cathedral Treasury, where, along with precious liturgical furnishings, the Imperial Crown found in the tomb of Constance of Aragon is kept, along with rings and friezes from the mantle of Frederick II.
The Crypt, which houses the tombs of the Archbishops of Palermo, including that of Walter Offamilius, who was responsible for the construction of the current church, modified by Ferdinando Fuga in the late 18th century.
Apses
The Cathedral roofs, where you can read the history of the various modifications over the centuries.

The “Visit Palermo Cathedral” app is available for visits.
