January 11, 2026 – BAPTISM OF THE LORD

+ From the Gospel according to Matthew (3:13-17)

At that time, Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him.
But John tried to prevent him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” But Jesus answered him, “Permit it to be so now, for it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” So he allowed him.
As soon as Jesus was baptized, he came up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. And behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son; with him I am well pleased.”
