December 14, 2025 – Third Sunday of Advent
+ From the Gospel according to Matthew (11:2-11)
Now when John, who was in prison, heard about the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples to ask him, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?” Jesus answered them, “Go and tell John what you hear and see: the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have good news preached to them. And blessed is he who takes no offense at me.”
As they were leaving, Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? What then did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? Behold, those who dress in fine clothes are in kings’ palaces. Now what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. This is the one of whom it is written: ‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you.’
Truly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
