December 29, 2024 – HOLY FAMILY OF JESUS, MARY AND JOSEPH

+ From the Gospel according to Luke (2:41-52)

Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year for the feast of the Passover. When he was twelve years old, they went up according to custom. But when the days were fulfilled, as they were returning, the boy Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem; but his parents did not know it. Supposing that he was in the company, they went a day’s journey and began to look for him among their relatives and acquaintances. When they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem to look for him.
After three days they found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. And all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.
When they saw him, they were amazed; and his mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us like this? Behold, your father and I have been anxiously looking for you.” And he answered them, “How is it that you sought me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” But they did not understand what he said to them.
So he went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them. But his mother kept all these things in her heart. And Jesus increased in wisdom and age, and in favor with God and man.
