Sunday 30 April 2023 – IV OF EASTER
+ From the Gospel according to John (10, 1 – 10)
At that time, Jesus said:
“Very truly, I say to you, anyone who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way is a thief and a bandit. Whoever enters through the door, on the other hand, is a shepherd of the sheep.
The keeper opens for him and the sheep listen to his voice: he calls his sheep, each one by name, and leads them out. And when he has driven out all his sheep, he walks ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. But a stranger they will not follow, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers.”
Jesus told them this parable, but they did not understand what he was talking about.
Then Jesus said to them again, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the gate of the sheep. All who have come before me are thieves and brigands; but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the door: if anyone enters through me, he will be saved; he will go in and out and find pasture.
The thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy; I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance”.
Word of the Lord.
