April 5, 2026 – EASTER SUNDAY – RESURRECTION OF THE LORD
+ From the Gospel according to John (20:1-9)
On the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early in the morning, while it was still dark, and saw the stone removed from the tomb.
So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have laid him.”
Then Peter and the other disciple went out to the tomb. They both ran together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He stooped down and saw the burial cloths lying there, but he did not go in.
Then Simon Peter, following him, also arrived and went into the tomb. He saw the burial cloths there, and the cloth that had been on Jesus’ head, not with the burial cloths but rolled up in a separate place.
Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed. For as yet they did not understand the Scripture, that Jesus must rise from the dead.
