November 9, 2025 – DEDICATION OF THE LATERAN BASILICA

+ From the Gospel according to John (2:13-22)

The Jewish Passover was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
In the temple he found people selling oxen, sheep, and doves, and the money changers sitting there.
Then he made a whip of cords and drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and oxen. He threw the money changers’ coins to the ground and overturned their tables. To those who sold doves he said, “Take these things away! Stop making my Father’s house a house of trade!”
His disciples remembered that it was written: “Zeal for your house will consume me.”
Then the Jews answered him, “What sign can you show us for doing these things?” Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” The Jews then said to him, “This temple has been under construction for forty-six years, and will you raise it up in three days?” But he was speaking of the temple of his body.
When he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken.
