The Cathedral’s pastor has been transferred to another parish.

Dear parishioners of the Cathedral, as some appointments made by our Archbishop for several parishes are being made public, I would like to inform you that I too am affected. I am being transferred from the Cathedral to the parish of Sant’Espedito on Via Nicolò Garzilli in Palermo. Father Luciano Fricano, currently pastor of the parish of S. Basilio Magno in Palermo, will be there, and I wish him success in his new role.
After 14 years of service to the Lord in this beautiful community, surrounded by so many beloved faithful, the time has come to leave and go where the Lord now calls me to serve him.
After so many years of sharing, you have been touched on a human level, but in terms of what it means to be a priest, I am experiencing this transfer with a strong inner serenity that the Lord, once again, has enabled me to experience.
Before leaving the community, we will have another opportunity to spend time together and meet.
I am experiencing the news of the transfer with a portion of the Community, as I, the dear family group, and seminarian Leonardo are in Gibilmanna for a three-day retreat. The atmosphere of prayer and fraternity of these days is a great comfort and consolation, finding myself in the company of parishioners with whom I have shared so much and from whom I have also received so much.

To the parishioners of the Parish of Sant’Espedito, beginning with our dearest Father Piero Magro, I extend a first and warm greeting, assuring everyone from this sanctuary of Gibilmanna of my prayers to the Virgin Mary, as we look forward to meeting to share together, as pilgrims of hope, the joy of professing our faith in Christ Jesus, our Savior, Redeemer, and our only hope.
