March 23, 2025 – Third Sunday of Lent

+ From the Gospel according to Luke (13:1-9)

Now some people came and told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. Then Jesus said to them, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered in this way? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell, killing them—do you think that they were worse sinners than all the others living in Jerusalem? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”
He also told this parable: “A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came looking for fruit on it and found none. Then he said to the vinedresser, ‘Look, for three years I have been coming looking for fruit on this tree, and yet I find none. Cut it down, then! Why should it waste the ground?’ But he said to him, ‘Sir, leave it alone for one more year, until I dig around it and put on manure. Then we will see if it bears fruit next year; but if not, you can cut it down.’”
