February 23, 2025 – Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time
+ From the Gospel according to Luke (6:27-38)
Jesus said to his disciples:
“I say to you who listen, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. To the one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also; and to the one who takes away your cloak, do not withhold even your tunic. Give to everyone who asks you, and from the one who takes away your things, do not ask for them back.
And as you would have men do to you, do the same to them. If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do the same. And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners to receive back as much. But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked.
Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be put into your lap. For with the same measure you use, it will be measured back to you.”
