400th Feast of Santa Rosalia, Patroness of Palermo
WEDNESDAY 10 JULY
5.00 pm Concert of the bells of the Cathedral.
6.00 pm Offering of wax to Santuzza with the participation of the Archbishop, the Mayor, the Confraternities and the faithful. Route of the procession: Piazza Pretoria, Quattro Canti, via Vittorio Emanuele, Cathedral. This is followed by the solemn rite of exit of the silver Urn of the Saint from the Chapel, deposition of the wax at the foot of the Urn and short concluding liturgy. The Cathedral choir animates the liturgy.

THURSDAY 11 JULY

11.00 am The Archbishop opens the doors of his house – Fraternity meeting with representatives of religions at the Archbishop’s Palace.
5.00 pm Rosary and Litany of Santa Rosalia.
5.30 pm Reception of the relics of St. Benedict the Moor in the cathedral churchyard and placement near the altar.
6.00 pm Mass presided over by H. E. Mons. Giovanni Accolla, Archbishop of Messina-Lipari-S. Lucia del Mela with the presence of the relic of S. Eustochia Smeralda Calafato, Poor Clare. The Franciscan family present in the Diocese is invited to participate in the celebration. The choir of the Sacred Heart of Jesus parish in Villabate animates the celebration.
7.30 pm Concert by the children’s choir of the Western Pomeranian University of Technology “Don Diri Don” in Szczecin, Poland, director M° Dariusz Dyczewski.

6.00 pm Mass presided over by His Excellency Monsignor Luigi Renna, Archbishop of Catania, with the presence of the relic of the veil of Saint Agatha. The Consecrated Life present in the Diocese is invited to participate in the celebration. The celebration is animated by the S. Sebastiano choir of the Municipal Police, directed by Maestro Serafina Sandovalli.
9.00 pm Eucharistic Adoration in the Cathedral animated by the Archbishop’s Seminary with the participation of the City’s lay groups, movements and associations. The Rector of the Seminary Don Antonio Mancuso presides.

Return of the procession along Corso Vittorio Emanuele, Quattro Canti, Via Maqueda, Descent dei Giovenchi, Piazza S. Onofrio, Via Panneria, Piazza Monte di Pietà (stop in front of the first votive shrine dedicated to Santuzza), Via Judica, Via Gioiamia, Via M . Bonello and return to the Cathedral.
The band of the musical cultural association “A.” follows the urn from the exit to Piazza Marina. Marinuzzi” city of Palermo by Giovanni and Salvatore Bottino and on the return the Palermo Band of Maestro Massimo Vella.

6.00 pm Procession from the Sanctuary to the Belvedere with the Urn of Santa Rosalia.
7.30 pm Solemn Pontifical Mass presided over by His Excellency the Most Reverend Monsignor Corrado Lorefice, Archbishop of Palermo. The Mayor, the civil and military authorities, the Clergy and the Archbishop’s Seminar participate. The celebration is animated by the Cathedral Choir, directed by Maestro Mauro Visconti.
After the Holy Mass, the urn returns to the cave where it will remain until September 7, according to the program that will be defined by the Sanctuary.
Monday 8 July at 9.00pm Holy Mass presided over by Mons. Filippo Sarullo in Piazza Monte di Pietà at the first votive shrine dedicated to Santuzza after the discovery of her body on Montepellegrino.
A sign of charity during the Festino: the donations collected during the Triduum celebrations on 14 and 15 July are destined for the Mission Speranza e Carità of Biagio Conte.
