+ From the Gospel according to Matthew (16, 13 – 20)

At that time, Jesus, having arrived in the region of Cesarèa di Filippo, asked his disciples: “People, who say that the Son of man is?”. They answered: «Some say John the Baptist, others Elia, others Jeremiah or some of the prophets».
He said to them, “But who do you think I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
And Jesus said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed it to you, but my Father who is in heaven.
And I say to you: you are Peter and on this rock I will build my Church and the powers of hell will not prevail over it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven: whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
He then commanded the disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Christ.

Word of the Lord.
