+ From the Gospel according to Matthew (17, 1 – 9)

At that time, Jesus took Peter, James and John his brother with him and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them: his face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, conversing with him.
Taking the floor, Peter said to Jesus: «Lord, it is good for us to be here! If you want, I’ll make three huts here, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.” He was still speaking, when a bright cloud covered them with his shadow. And behold a voice from the cloud saying: “This is my Son, my beloved: in him I am well pleased. Listen to him.”
When the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces and were filled with great fear. But Jesus came and touched them and said, “Get up and don’t be afraid.” Looking up, they saw no one but Jesus alone.
As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus ordered them, “Tell no one about this vision until the Son of Man has risen from the dead.”

Word of the Lord.
