+ From the Gospel according to John (3, 16 – 18)

At that time, Jesus said to Nicodèmo:
“God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Indeed, God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but for the world to be saved through him.
Whoever believes in him is not condemned; but whoever does not believe has already been condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God”.
