+ From the Gospel according to John (14, 1 – 12)

At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Have faith in God and have faith in me too. In my Father’s house are many mansions. If not, would I have ever said to you: “I’m going to prepare a place for you”? When I have gone and prepared a place for you, I will come again and take you with me, so that where I am you may also be. And to the place where I am going, you know the way.”
Thomas said to him: «Lord, we do not know where you are going; how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him: «I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you have known me, you will also know my Father: from now on you know him and have seen him”.
Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father and it will be enough for us.” Jesus answered him, “I have been with you for a long time and you have not known me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say: “Show us the Father”? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I speak to you, I do not speak from myself; but the Father, who remains in me, does his works.
Believe me: I am in the Father and the Father is in me. If nothing else, believe it for the works themselves.
Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do and will do greater works than these, because I am going to the Father.”
