Sunday 21th August 2022 – 21th of Ordinary Time

+ From the Gospel according to Luke (13, 22 – 30)

At that time, Jesus was teaching through towns and villages while he was on his way to Jerusalem.
Someone asked him: “Lord, are there few who are saved?”
He said to them: “Make an effort to enter through the narrow gate, because many, I tell you, will try to enter, but will not succeed.
When the master of the house gets up and closes the door, you, left outside, will start knocking on the door, saying: “Lord, open us!”. But he will answer you: “I don’t know where you are from.” Then you will begin to say: “We ate and drank in your presence and you taught in our squares”. But he will declare to you: “You, I don’t know where you are from. Get away from me, all you workers of injustice! ”.
There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but you are thrown out.
They will come from east and west, from north and south and will sit at table in the kingdom of God. And behold, there are last who will be first, and there are first who will be last ».
