From the Gospel according to John (8: 1-11)
At that time, Jesus set out for the Mount of Olives. But in the morning he went again to the temple and all the people went to him. And he sat down and began to teach them.
Then the scribes and the Pharisees brought him a woman caught in adultery, placed her in her midst and said to him: «Master, this woman has been caught in the act of adultery. Now Moses, in the Law, commanded us to stone women like this. What do you think?”. They said this to test him and to have reason to accuse him.
But Jesus bent down and began to write on the ground with his finger. However, as they insisted on questioning him, he got up and said to them, “Let him who is without sin among you throw a stone at her first.” And, bending down again, he wrote on the ground. Those, hearing this, went away one by one, beginning with the eldest.
They left him alone, and the woman was there in the middle. Then Jesus stood up and said to her: «Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you? ». And she replied, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go and from now on don’t sin more ».
