Sunday 7th November 2021 – XXXII of Ordinary Time
From the Gospel according to Mark (12, 38 – 44)
At that time, Jesus [in the temple] said to the crowd in his teaching: “Beware of the scribes, who like to walk in long robes, receive greetings in the squares, have the first seats in the synagogues and the first seats in the banquets. They devour widows’ homes and pray for a long time to be seen. They will receive a more severe sentence ».
Sitting in front of the treasury, he watched as the crowd threw coins into it. Many rich people threw a lot. But when a poor widow came, he threw two small coins into it, which makes a penny.
Then, calling her disciples to him, she said to them: «Truly I tell you: this widow, so poor, has thrown into the treasury more than all the others. In fact, all have thrown away part of their superfluous. Instead she, in her misery of hers, threw everything she had into it, everything she had to live on ».
