From the Gospel according to Mark (10, 2 – 16)

At that time, some Pharisees came up and, to put him to the test, they asked Jesus if he is lawful for a husband to divorce his wife. But he said to them, “What did Moses command you?” They said: “Moses allowed a certificate of divorce to be written and to divorce her.”
Jesus said to them, “Because of the hardness of your heart he wrote this standard for you. But from the beginning of creation [God] made them male and female; for this the man will leave his father and his mother and will unite with his wife and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore man does not divide what God has joined “.
At home, the disciples questioned him again on this subject. And he said to them: “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her; and if she, having repudiated her husband, marries another, she commits adultery ».
They presented children to him for him to touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. Jesus, seeing this, was indignant and said to them: “Let the children come to me, do not prevent them: the kingdom of God belongs to those who are like them. Truly, I tell you, whoever does not welcome the kingdom of As God welcomes a child, he will not enter it ». And, taking them in his arms, he blessed them, laying his hands on them.
