SATURDAY 14 AUGUST 2021 EVENING VISIT
Next Saturday from 20.00 to 00.00 (last admission 23.30) it will be possible to make an evening visit to the Monumental Complex of the Cathedral and the Diocesan Museum of Palermo.
The visit of the roofs of the Cathedral allows you to look at the city of Palermo from above with its landscape and monumental treasures, and to discover the artistic and architectural elements of the external walls.
In the Monumental Complex of the Cathedral you can admire and discover: the treasure with the crown of Constance of Aragon, wife of Frederick II; the crypt, where the tombs of the Archbishops of Palermo are kept; the Royal Tombs with the mortal remains of the emperors Frederick II, of the parents Henry VI and Costanza D’Altavilla, of his wife Costanza D’Aragona and of his grandfather Ruggero II, founder of the Kingdom of Sicily; the basement and the Chapel of the Beneficials.
The visit to the Diocesan Museum of Palermo, is divided into 27 rooms on the three levels of the front of via Matteo Bonello of the Archbishop’s Palace, adjacent to the Cathedral, exhibiting about 300 works including paintings, sculptures and decorative arts from the twelfth to the nineteenth century.
Tickets can be purchased on the day of the visit at the Cathedral ticket office, or online on the website https://www.ticket-shop-cattedraledipalermo.it.
Tickets purchased online can be used on any opening day of the Monumental Complex of the Cathedral and the Diocesan Museum and do not expire until used.
A GREEN-PASS IS REQUIRED FOR THE VISIT AND NO RESERVATION IS REQUIRED
The visit of the Monumental Complex of the Cathedral is not allowed for heart patients, those suffering from claustrophobia, dizziness, psychophysical disabilities and anxiety attacks; in addition, comfortable shoes are recommended.
In case of bad weather conditions, the visit will be postponed.
